Fields of Inquiry: Jeanne and Me > Spirits of the Flowers Keep Watch

Through constructed arrangements, layered landscapes, artificial flowers, and shifting encounters, these works move through botanical history, colonial fantasy, decorative culture, and acts of looking.

Rather than illustrating history, the project navigates the shifting boundaries between the real and the imagined, the remembered and the forgotten, the historical and the projected.

Jeanne Barret’s invisible presence lingers throughout the work alongside fever dreams, floral dodos, watery crossings, bougainvillea, and bandages.
